In my misspent youth, I ran away to Antarctica. I spent a summer season in a tent on a blue ice runway in Dronning Maud Land, the Norwegian sector of Antarctica. Myself and a hodge podge group of people were responsible for maintaining a blue ice runway smack bang in literally the middle of nowhere. But oh, what a nowhere place this was. Antarctica on a Plate is about those months cooking for a rag tag group of scientists and expeditioners on the coldest continent on earth.
